Men’s Final in Málaga Falls into the Mighty Hands of Lima and Tapia
Las Rozas Open Champions bagged another trophy as Pablo Lima and Agustin Tapia dominated over Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro in the Málaga Open Finals 2021.
The Spaniard and the Argentine, who had taken out Fernando Belasteguin and Sanyo Gutierrez, made a very high-flying match yesterday to take out Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello.
The couple had a day to rest as Tapia and Lima didn’t have to play the semi-final because of an injury to Javi Ruiz. This break was the secret ingredient to their landslide win as they took advantage of not one but two breaks, with Tapia’s smashes proving deadly as the set finished 6-2.
A victory without appeal, 6/4 6/3, allows the duo to offer themselves their second final of the year. Almost at home, the Sevillian Paquito Navarro seems galvanized by the support of the public. After having made miseries in Sanyo Gutierrez on Friday, his partner did not spare Federico Chingotto yesterday.
Second consecutive title in the Malaga Open for Pablo Lima and Agustin Tapia, both on top of this year’s World Padel Tour League.
Di Nenno and Navarro scratched and clawed to try and force a third set at the second set. But the overwhelming power of Tapia and Lima shut down their offense.
Overcoming several set points, Lima and Tapia forced a tie break, where they again faced set points from the determined Martin and Paquito.
However, they turned it around and won the tie break 9 to 7 to win the set, the game, and the Cervezas Victoria Malaga Open, their second tournament win in a row.
What a mastery! After their surprise victory at the Las Rozas Open, the Brazilian and Argentine have shown they will have to count on them in the second half of the season.
