
Indoor Padel Court Now Open in Qatar, and It’s Huge!
Padel tennis is quickly becoming Qatar’s hottest sport. Recently, Aspire Zone Foundation welcomes the biggest indoor padel complex in the Gulf state.
Qatar has officially opened the biggest Arab indoor padel court to accommodate the country’s increasing demand for padel players. It’s located at the heart of Qatar’s super sports facility at Aspire Park.
The indoor padel court in Aspire zone is one of its many world-class sports facilities. From swimming pools to football grounds and basketball courts, you can find everything at the Aspire Zone Doha. The zone also houses sporting venues like Aspire Dome, featuring 13 playing fields, Hamad Aquatic Center, and Khalifa International Stadium, which has an accommodation capacity of around 50,000 people.

Former tennis national team player Mohammed Saadoun Al Kuwari transitions from tennis to padel. In an interview, the star athlete says, “It’s very similar to Tennis, except the glass and the racket is carbon fiber made.”Currently, he tops second place on Qatar’s national rankings. Al Kuwari recently bagged third place in the Asia Padel Championships, with 9 international and local championships under his belt.
He first started playing padel in 2016, and it did not take long before he completely fell in love with the sport. In fact, by 2017, his older brother opened the first padel club at Qatar Sports Club.
“We fell in love with the sport, even got addicted to it,” Al Kuwari said. “The community’s reaction is amazing. It’s an easy sport to learn, and because there are four players, it’s very social as well.”
According to Al-Kuwari, more than 10,000 people in Qatar play padel. An estimated 4,000 of those registered with the indoor padel court, Padel In.
Padel is slowly taking the world by storm, and people are loving it.
Qatar Tennis, Squash, and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) joined the International Padel Federation (FIP). This came after Qatar won the bid to host the Padel World Cup. The event will be hosted in the Middle East for the first time this November 15 to 20, 2021.
Qatar is now more than ready to host international padel tournaments and participate in other events under the umbrella of the FIP. In 2020, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) agreed to create a padel committee affiliated with the QTSBG.
In March 2021, the International Padel Federation held its first padel tournament in Qatar with elite players worldwide. QTSBF Secretary-General Tariq Zainal said he was happy that Qatar joined the federation, especially since the game has become very popular among Qatari players.
