Tennis Holy Trifecta: Platform Tennis, Paddle Tennis and Padel
Did you know that all across the globe there are different kinds of tennis played like: Platform Tennis, Paddle Tennis, and Padel?
With their similar names and the fact that they are often used interchangeably by players depending on where they are situated, these three sports are particularly difficult to understand. But they’re not the same. Stick around to learn more about what makes padel unique among these three!
It all started in Mexico in the ’50s, but Padel (often written “paddle”) has become the most popular of the lot in Argentina and Spain. As a sport, it is one of the fastest-growing in the globe.
Even while all three games are relatively similar, there are a few notable differences:
The lower court sizes of these three sports contribute greatly to their popularity since they are simpler and faster to pick up. There is a greater emphasis on camaraderie since the majority of the games are played in doubles.
It’s a lot like tennis, but there are a few little distinctions. Also, it’s played on a smaller enclosed court than a tennis court, with walls that may be used as part of the game. However, the balls and the scoring system are almost similar (except for a minor decrease in pressure).
In Padel, the aim is to win two of the three sets that make up a match and advance to the next round. Each team must work together to defeat the other squad. Because the court is smaller and confined than in tennis, players must have a solid knowledge of each other and be physically fit to be effective.
