Padel Bites the Big Apple- First Padel Court Opens in NYC
NYC is now on for a whole new fun gaming experience as it welcomes its first padel court in Williamsburg. Tennis’ more sociable, knee-friendly cousin is now surging and taking the world by storm, and we love to see it!
Padel is a sport in which four players strike the ball back and forth in an enclosed court with an artificial turf surface. Fans claim that getting up to speed takes just a few days and that the small courts—roughly a third of what is required for tennis—are simple to set up. The smaller courts and the fact that the game is exclusively played in pairs make it simpler to socialize.
Despite its rising popularity, there are few public padel courts. Because of the sport’s status as a pastime for the wealthy, many new courts are springing up in residences, especially in luxury estates. According to real estate brokers, more buyers are looking for the amenity or space in Florida, Texas, California, and New York.

Williamsburg builds its first padel club, thanks to Cosme co-owner Santiago Gomez
This culinary mogul is now venturing to new heights with his new project!
Santiago Gomez is looking for a big hit with his next project. Cosme plans to launch New York City’s first padel club at 307 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the acclaimed restaurateur behind the acclaimed Mexican cuisine.

Mexican Chef Santiago Gomez has over 15 years of expertise in the hospitality business, designing and operating several restaurant ideas. He has successfully positioned restaurants at the top of Miami’s and Mexico’s rankings. After many years working in the kitchen, he learned the importance of the structure and plan behind a restaurant’s launch in 2018.
According to tenant broker MONA, Santiago Gomez, the co-founder of Cosme and ATLA, another Mexican restaurant, has secured a 10-year lease for 30,000 square feet at 307 Kent to launch Padel Haus next year. The asking rent for the unit was $60 per square foot.
Padel is a cross between tennis and squash. It was created in Mexico in 1969 and introduced to the United States in 1993. It’s played on an enclosed court that’s roughly a quarter of the size of a tennis court and has a similar scoring system.
Aside from the courts, Padel Haus intends to open a Mexican Cafe where players may dine in between bouts. It will occupy the one-story warehouse that was once home to the Discovery Channel. G4 Capital Partners, the building’s owner, is dismantling the structure to make way for a nine-story skyscraper with a mix of office, medical, and retail space.
